We are based out in Hooghly, over in West Bengal. It is a very green area but the high humidity makes the physical work really tough some days. We have got our hands full with several different projects around here right now. The crew is mostly made up of local guys who know the land and the weather patterns well. We spend most of our time dealing with different suppliers and making sure the bricks we get are the right quality for the job. Construction is never easy in this kind of wet climate. The rain can stop everything for a whole week, and then we have to work double time just to catch up on the lost hours. Our spot is pretty basic, just a couple of desks and some old chairs with maps pinned to the wall. We do not spend much time sitting down though. There is always someone needing a signature on a form or a sudden problem with the site drainage that needs fixing. We try to keep things as simple as possible. If something needs building, we just go out and build it. We do not go in for big speeches or fancy marketing flyers. Most of our work comes from people just seeing what we have already put up in the neighborhood. The trucks come in early in the morning and that is usually the loudest part of our day. By the evening, we are all pretty tired and ready to head back home. It is just honest work with lifting.
