You can find us in the Serampore Housing Estate over in Rishra, which is in the Hooghly district of West Bengal. We are in Mig-I, House No 114. Working out of a housing estate gives the place a very different feel than a factory. It is a bit more personal. At Mohta Electro Systems, we deal with all kinds of electrical components and systems. There are usually wires and testers spread out on the main table. The light in the office is a bit dim, but we have lamps for the detailed work. Rishra is an interesting place with a lot of history, and being part of the community here is important to us. We see our neighbors every day when we come in. The humidity in West Bengal can be tough on the equipment, so we have to be careful about how we store things. We spend a lot of time troubleshooting or putting things together by hand. It is not a high-tech lab with white floors. It is just a practical workshop where we get things done. We have tea twice a day and talk about local things. It’s a steady kind of life. We just focus on the electronics and making sure everything works like it should before it leaves the door. It takes a lot of patience to get the circuits right, but we enjoy the challenge.
