Mahalaxmi Marble

We are situated right on G.T. Road at 2A in the Bagkhal area of Konnagar. Mahalaxmi Marble has a lot of heavy stones and slabs sitting around the yard. It gets pretty dusty, especially when the wind blows off the main road. Working with marble means dealing with a lot of weight and making sure things don't crack when they're being moved. We spend most of our time out there showing people different types of stone or checking the stock. The noise from the traffic on G.T. Road is something you just get used to after a week or two. It isn't a quiet office job, that is for sure. My clothes usually have a bit of white dust on them by the end of the day. We have been in Konnagar for some time and the locals know us by now. We don’t have a flashy showroom with bright lights, just the slabs leaning against each other. Some days are slow and we just sit and talk, while other days everyone wants their delivery at the same time. It can be a bit chaotic but we get it done. The rain sometimes makes the yard a bit messy, but we manage. It’s a straightforward business where what you see is what you get. We just keep working. We are not big on talking, we just move the stone and keep going.
