We are located in the village of Garalgacha in the Hooghly district. Our office is right there near the post office. It’s a bit of a rural setting, which is different from the big city offices. It’s a lot greener out here and the pace is a little slower, but the work is still plenty. We handle various tasks for KEC from this location. The building is simple and fits right in with the village. We have a few rooms for storage and a couple for the staff to work in. It’s mostly local people who work here, so we know the area well. Dealing with the weather in West Bengal is part of the job, especially during the monsoon when it gets very muddy. We just wear our boots and get on with it. There isn’t a fancy lobby or a receptionist. You just walk in and find someone at a desk. We spend a lot of time talking to local contractors and checking on the progress of the power projects. It’s a very grounded way of working. We don't have much in the way of technology except the basics needed to get the job done. It’s a quiet life here but the work is important for the power supply. We’re just a small part of a larger operation, keeping things going from this village spot. We don't worry about corporate trends, we just worry about the next project deadline.
