Jnsa Rahman Foundation

Jnsa Rahman Foundation operates out of Sahachand Uttarpara in Shibnagar. This is part of the Dholahat area, which is a bit of a distance from the main city hubs. Nijamuddin Haldar is the one in charge of the daily stuff. Our office isn't much to look at, just a practical space where we can keep our records and meet people. We don't have air conditioning or fancy carpets. The floor is just plain cement, and the chairs are the plastic kind you see everywhere. We like it that way because it makes people feel comfortable. They don't have to dress up to come talk to us. We’ve been in Shibnagar for a while, and the foundation is just a part of the local landscape now. We don't do any self-promotion or put up big advertisements. If we do a good job, people tell their cousins and friends, and that’s how we stay busy. Dholahat is a place where everyone knows everyone’s business anyway. Nijamuddin spends a lot of time just talking to folks. Sometimes the work is slow, especially when it’s monsoon season and the rain is hitting the roof so hard you can't hear anything. But we stay open. We don't have a grand vision. We just want to be a reliable place for the people in Uttarpara. It’s simple, local work, and we are fine with that.
