Our office is tucked away in Narkelbagan, Khagrajole, which is part of the Chuchura area. Jmd Design-Desk Pvt Ltd is the name on our paperwork. Being in the Hooghly district of West Bengal, specifically at Pin 712101, means we are away from the massive rush of Kolkata but still very busy. The office is a bit of a walk from the main road, located near the post office. It’s a lived-in space with plenty of character. We have drawing boards and computers everywhere because that is what we do. It’s not a sterile environment; there are usually half-empty tea cups and rolls of paper lying around. We’ve been here long enough that the local shopkeepers know us by name. We don't bother with fancy mission statements or corporate branding. We just focus on the designs and getting the measurements right. Sometimes the internet is slow or the monsoon rain makes the roof a bit noisy, but we just keep working through it. It’s a small, dedicated group of us here. We prefer it this way. It feels more like a workshop than a business office. We take our work seriously but we don't take ourselves too seriously.
