It’s an old part of the Hooghly district, and the building feels like it’s seen a lot of history. The post office is right there in Chatra, which makes things easy for mail. This isn't a modern office park or anything. It's an old lane where everyone knows everyone. Sometimes the goats from the neighbor’s place wander too close to the door. We don’t mind much. It’s just the way things are in this part of West Bengal. Inside, it’s mostly just paper, old ledgers, and a few computers that have seen better days. We don’t spend money on fancy decorations because it doesn’t seem necessary for what we do. People come by, we talk, and we get the work finished. The 712204 pin code is our little corner of the world. In the summer, it gets incredibly hot, and we just turn on the old ceiling fans and hope for a breeze from the lane. It’s not a fast-paced environment. We take our time to make sure things aren't messed up. There's no big mission statement on the wall, just a calendar and maybe a dusty clock. We are just a local group, Jessop & Co Ltd, doing our part in Serampore.
