We've been here in Pahalampur for a while now. The office is right in the village, near the Singur police station area. It’s not a fancy place, just where we handle the project paperwork and keep track of the equipment coming in from Sheraphuly. Most days it’s pretty quiet until the trucks show up. The dust gets everywhere especially when the wind picks up across the Hooghly district plains. We have a couple of desks that have seen better days and a ceiling fan that makes a bit too much noise when it’s on high. It’s mostly just us local guys working here, trying to stay on top of the schedules. Sometimes the internet goes out when it rains hard, which happens a lot during the monsoon. We usually just grab some tea from the shop down the road while we wait for things to get moving again. It’s a practical setup for Itd Cementation India Ltd. We don’t have any big signs or flashy stuff outside, just the name on the door so people know they’ve found the right spot in Village & P.O. Pahalampur. Working in this part of West Bengal means you get used to the humidity and the slow pace of the village life outside the gate. We keep the registers updated by hand mostly because it’s easier that way when the power flickers. We also have a small porch area where some of the guys sit during their lunch break. You can see the fields from there if the sun isn't too bright.
