Gammon India ,Ltd. has a small branch in the village of Baruipara in the Hooghly district of West Bengal. Our office is right there in the village, near the post office, with the pin code 712306. It is a rural setting, which is quite different from the big city offices. Life moves a bit slower here, and we appreciate that. Our office is a simple building that fits right in with the local houses. We handle the regional work from this spot. There are just a few of us here, and we mostly look after the local labor and material logistics. It is a very hands-on job. We do not have a lot of high-tech gadgets; we mostly rely on our phones and old-fashioned ledger books. The fans hum all day to keep the heat away. We often have locals dropping by just to say hello or ask about work. We do not have any formal reception area, so visitors just walk right in. It is a very open and honest way to work. We do not use corporate jargon or try to act like we are better than anyone else. We are just a group of workers trying to do right by the company and the community. The roads can be a bit rough during the monsoon, but we manage somehow. It is a quiet life in Hooghly, and we just stay here and do our daily tasks. It works for us.
