Down here at 35 Ramhari Roy Lane in Uttarapra, things move at their own pace. We’re the Hooghly branch for Dlf Laing O'Rourke India Ltd. West Bengal has a different feel compared to the offices in the north, and we like that. Our building is on a bit of a narrow lane, so it’s not the easiest place to find if you aren't looking for it. We handle the local side of things from this office. It’s a lot of coordination and making sure the local workers have what they need for the projects. Most of the staff grew up around here, so we know the area well. We aren’t trying to be anything we’re not. It’s a basic office with some old wooden furniture and a lot of history. We spend our days looking over plans and talking to folks on the ground. Sometimes the power goes out or the rain makes things difficult, but we just adapt. That’s the way it is in Hooghly. We don’t have a big lobby or a receptionist in a suit. Usually, you’ll just find one of us hunched over a desk or chatting about the latest project. We focus on getting the job done properly. It’s a bit of a juggle sometimes, but we’ve got a system that works for us. It’s just us doing our jobs in this little corner of the world, keeping things running.
