We are tucked away at 50 Gobindmayee Devi Lane in Telinipara. It’s one of those narrow lanes where everyone knows everyone’s business, and you have to be careful how you park your scooter. Our company, Balajee Infracom, operates right out of this neighborhood. We deal with infrastructure and communication projects, but the daily reality is mostly about managing local labor and getting supplies through the narrow streets. The office is small and usually smells like the tea we get from the shop at the corner. We don't have a lot of space, so we have to be organized with our files. It’s a busy place, especially in the mornings when the workers come by to get their instructions for the day. Telinipara is a lively area, and being based here means we are right in the thick of things. We spend a lot of time on the phone trying to track down trucks that have gotten lost or delayed. It’s a lot of coordination and making sure the small details don't get missed. We aren't a big corporate entity with hundreds of employees. It’s just a few of us trying to make sure the work gets done right. Sometimes we stay late when there’s a problem at a site, but usually, we wrap up when the sun goes down and the lane gets quiet. There is always a lot to keep track of with the bills and the site reports.
