Woodtech

In Hodal, right on the Main Road, is where Woodtech is based. It’s a straightforward shop where we work with wood all day long. There is always a layer of fine sawdust on everything, including our clothes. We have a few saws and some workbenches where we get things ready. It’s not a large place, so we have to be careful about how we move the longer planks of wood so we don't hit the walls. Most of our customers are locals from around Hodal who need something specific built or just need some raw lumber. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything. People just see us on the road and stop their bikes or cars. The sun gets quite hot in the afternoons, and the front of the shop stays open to catch whatever breeze there is. We have a small radio that plays local stations while we work. It’s a simple life. We spend a lot of time measuring and cutting and then measuring again to make sure it’s right. Sometimes the wood has knots or bends we have to work around. It’s just the nature of the material. We aren't trying to be the biggest shop in town, just one that does the work that needs doing. It’s been our routine for a while and we plan to keep it that way. There is always more wood to cut and things to finish.
