If you travel down to the Old Colony in Hisar, you’ll find us at B-15. This is where Jindal Stainless Ltd looks after the environment and water management side of things. It’s a bit different from a regular sales office. We’re right in the thick of the industrial area here in Haryana, with the 125 005 pin code. The office is tucked away, and it’s usually filled with charts and maps of the local water systems. It’s quite an old building, hence the name Old Colony, but it stays relatively cool inside because of the thick walls. D.P Singh is usually around here heading things up. We spend a lot of time looking at pipes and filtration setups. It’s not very glamorous work, but it needs doing. The grounds around the colony have a few trees that give some shade during the harsh Hisar afternoons. We drink a lot of water ourselves while we’re talking about managing it for the company. Most days involve a lot of walking around and checking on the various sites nearby. It’s a quiet kind of work compared to the main plant. We just keep our heads down and handle the environmental stuff without making a big fuss. People from the neighborhood sometimes stop by to say hello. It feels more like a community spot than a big industrial headquarters. We like it that way because it makes the long days feel a little bit more personal.
