Jindal Stainless Ltd, Hissar

I have been working with Jindal Stainless Ltd here in Hisar since November of 2001. That is a long time to be looking at the same metal walls and hearing the same hydraulic presses. Over the years, you see people come and go, but the steel stays the same. The plant is a massive place, and even after two decades, there are still corners of it that feel a bit unfamiliar. My day usually involves a lot of walking and checking on the status of different projects. The metal can be unpredictable, and you have to have a feel for it to know when something isn't right. It’s a dusty job, and the Haryana sun doesn't make it any easier when you're on the factory floor. We don't use any fancy marketing language because the steel speaks for itself. It is either good or it isn't. We just try to make sure it’s the former. Most of us who have been here since the early 2000s have a lot of stories about the old machines and how things used to be much more manual. Now there is more tech, but the core of the work is still the same: heat, pressure, and iron. We drink a lot of water and try to stay out of the direct sun when we can. It’s a life spent in the middle of industry, and I wouldn't know what else to do with my time anyway.
