Jindal Stainless Ltd, Hisar

Our spot is over at 33 in D.C. Colony in Hisar. It is a bit of a walk to the main gates of the stainless steel plant from there, but you get used to the routine after a few weeks. The air always smells a bit like metal and grease, which is just part of living and working in an industrial town like this. People think making steel is some kind of magic, but it is really just a lot of noise, heat, and moving heavy things from one pile to another. We spend our hours looking at registers or watching the lorries line up outside. The colony itself is quiet enough, but once you step toward the Jindal area, everything gets loud fast. We don't really have a lot of corporate talk here. We just focus on whether the stainless steel is moving out and if the inventory matches what we have on the floor. It is a lot of physical work, and your hands usually end up stained by the end of the shift. We sit around during breaks drinking chai and talking about the weather or how the local roads are getting worse. It is not a glamorous life, but it pays the bills and keeps the town moving. We take things one day at a time, making sure the steel sheets are packed right and nothing gets lost in the shuffle of the busy yard.
