Handloom Emporium

You can find us over at Nagori Gate Chowk. It is one of those busy intersections where there is always something going on. The shop is filled with different fabrics and handloom items we’ve gathered. It’s not the biggest place, and sometimes it feels like the walls are closing in with all the stacks of cloth. We’ve been at Nagori Gate for quite some time. The air is always full of the sounds of rickshaws and people shouting outside. Inside, it’s a bit quieter, though we usually have a fan rattling in the corner. We don't have any fancy displays. We just put the goods out where people can see them and feel the texture. My hands are usually rough from handling the material all day. We get a lot of regulars who stop by just to see what’s new or to have a cup of tea. It’s a simple way to run a business. We don’t use any high-tech gadgets, just a measuring tape and some old scissors. The light in the shop isn’t the best, but we know where everything is. It’s a bit messy, with scraps of thread on the floor and rolls of fabric leaning against the doors. We just like being part of the chaos at the chowk. It’s a local spot and we are just local people doing our thing. We stay open even when the traffic outside gets completely stuck.
