Tara Chand Mangal Ram

Out here in City-Thikka, things move a bit slower than in the big cities. We are located in Tehsil-Guhla, which is a place where everyone kind of knows what everyone else is doing. Our business, Tara Chand Mangal Ram, is pretty straightforward. We spend our mornings checking the arrivals and making sure the stock is where it needs to be. It’s dusty work most of the time, especially when the winds pick up across the open areas. We don't spend much money on decorations or big signs. The building is old but it serves its purpose for what we do. My father and the rest of the guys are usually around the main area, talking to people who come by from the nearby villages. It’s mostly about local trade and making sure the grains or whatever we have on hand is handled right. Sometimes we sit on the wooden benches outside when the weather is nice. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to write fancy letters for us. We just handle the accounts ourselves and make sure the trucks are loaded on time. It is a simple life in Guhla, and we are quite content with how we run things here. There is always tea being made in the back, and anyone who stops by usually ends up staying for a bit to talk about the weather or the market prices. It keeps us connected.
