If you are looking for us, we are over at Shop Number 12 on Balasmand Road in Hisar. Sawan, who is Sarjeet Singh’s son, is usually around the place. It is a small shop, but it serves our needs for the social services work we do. Being on Balasmand Road means there is always a lot of traffic and noise outside, but that’s just how it is in this part of town. We spend a lot of our time dealing with requests from people living nearby. It could be anything from helping an elderly neighbor get to a doctor or making sure some of the local families have enough to get through the week. We aren't doing this to get famous or make a lot of money. We just live here and want the neighborhood to be a bit better for everyone. Some days are really slow and we just sit outside the shop and talk to people who are walking by. Other days, it’s a total mess and we have people lining up out the door. We don't have a fancy website or a bunch of brochures to hand out. We just talk to people face to face. It’s the way things have always been done in Hisar. The shop is tucked away a bit, so you have to keep an eye out for the number. We’ve been here for a bit now and the locals know where to find us when things get tough for them.
