Mangal Kiryana Store

We have been here on College Road for quite a while now. Running Mangal Kiryana Store takes up most of our day, from early morning until the sun goes down. People around Mandi Adampur know where to find us easily. It’s a basic shop, really. We keep the shelves stocked with lentils, rice, spices, and the usual things people need for their daily kitchens. Sometimes the delivery truck comes late and things get a bit messy behind the counter, but we manage to get it sorted. My brother helps out when it gets busy in the late evenings. The floor is old and the ceiling fans make a bit of noise, but they keep the place cool enough during the summer months. We don't have fancy glass displays or anything like that. Just heavy bags of flour and containers of oil stacked where they fit on the racks. Students from the college walk by often, sometimes stopping for a quick snack or a cold drink. It’s a busy spot. We try to remember what our regular neighbors like so we can have it ready before they even ask. Dealing with wholesalers is probably the hardest part because prices seem to change every week. But that’s just how this business goes. We stay busy and keep the doors open for anyone who needs a few kilos of sugar or some tea leaves. It’s not a big supermarket, just a local place where we know most of the faces coming through the door every day. We spend a lot of time just cleaning the dust off the jars.
