Mahabir Rice Mills

Mahabir Rice Mills is located on Devigarh Road. We are right in the heart of Khanori Mandi, which is always a very busy spot. The morning usually starts with the sound of the heavy iron gates being pulled open. During the winter months, it is quite cold here and we drink a lot of tea to stay warm while we wait for the first loads of grain to come in. The mandi is always full of people shouting and tractors moving around in every direction. You really have to keep your eyes open when you are walking across the yard. Devigarh Road gets very crowded when it is peak season. We spend most of our time near the hullers or out in the open yard. There is always a machine that needs a bit of grease or something that needs to be swept up. It is definitely not a quiet environment to work in. The smell of the grain is something that stays with you even after you go home. Some days are much longer than others depending on how much work there is. We do not really have a strict closing time if there is still stuff to be moved. Khanori Mandi has been where we work for a long time now. The walls of the mill look a bit old now because the dust just covers any new paint we might put up. It is just regular work for us.
