Our shop is over at Number 72 in the Anaj Mandi, which is the heart of things here in Tehsil Bhattu Kalan. Laxmi Narayan Ved Prakash Co. is a name that has been around for a while in this market. We are located quite close to the Hanuman Mandir, so you can often hear the bells while we are working. Being in the grain market means our schedule follows the seasons of the farmers. When it is harvest time, the whole area is packed with trucks and bags of grain, and we are on our feet from dawn until way past dark. It is dusty and loud, but that is just how the mandi is. We deal with a lot of people every day, mostly farmers and traders who are looking to move their stock. We have a small desk where we keep our books, and there is usually a pot of tea going for whoever drops in to talk business. We don't have a website or anything like that; we just rely on the people we have known for decades. It is a family-style environment where everyone knows everyone else’s business. Sometimes the prices are up and sometimes they are down, but we just keep the doors open and do our part. It is honest, hard work that has kept us going right here in Bhattu Kalan for all these years.
