Jindal Stainless Ltd, Hisar (Haryana)

We are located at H.N-126 in Sector-13, right here in Hisar. Living and working so close to the stainless steel plant means your life is pretty much tied to the production schedule. The trucks start rolling in very early, and you can hear the gears grinding from blocks away. It is a very busy part of Haryana, and there is always someone moving something heavy. We deal with all sorts of steel products, from thin sheets to heavy coils that need big cranes to move. The walls of our workspace are a bit dusty, and the floors are scuffed from years of boots walking over them. We don't have a mission statement on the wall or anything like that. We just know that the steel has to be ready when the transport arrives. Sometimes we have to deal with power cuts or machines that decide to stop working right in the middle of a big job. That’s when things get stressful, but we usually figure it out among ourselves. The local guys here are hardworking and don't complain much about the grease or the long hours. We take our tea breaks seriously because it’s the only time we get to sit down and relax for a minute. It’s a plain, hardworking life, and we are just one small part of the big machine that keeps the steel flowing through the city.
