Haryanvi Organic Food Farmer Producer Company Limited is based out of VPO Kheri Lochap in Hisar. We work from Subhash Chander’s place, he’s the son of Sh. Hari Kishan. It’s a real rural setup, right in the heart of the farming community here in Haryana. We are a bunch of local farmers who decided to pool our resources together. It’s better than trying to fight the market all by yourself. We focus on organic food because it feels like a better way for the land and for the people eating it. Our office is basically a room at the house where we keep the records and meet up to talk about the crops. There’s usually some tea going and a lot of talk about the weather and the soil. It’s not like those big city companies. We know everyone by name here. Sometimes the internet is slow or the power is out, so we just write things down by hand. It’s honest work. We spend more time in the fields than behind a desk. We want to make sure the organic food we produce is actually good. We don’t use any of those fancy marketing words. We just grow what we can and try to get a fair price for the hard work everyone puts in. It’s a community effort, and we just try to stay honest.
