Our business, Gurdial Mal Chiranji Lal Jain, is at 345 Vikas Nagar. We are located quite close to Jj University. Because of where we are, we see a lot of students and teachers walking by throughout the day. This shop has been in our family for many years now. It has the names of our grandfathers, so we try to run it in a way that would make them proud. We sell a lot of different items that people in the neighborhood need for their homes. It is a very old-fashioned kind of shop. We have high shelves and wooden counters that have been here for decades. It is a bit crowded inside, and sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what a customer wants, but we usually know where everything is hidden. Vikas Nagar is a very busy area, and being near the university means there is always something going on. We do not have any mission statements or corporate goals. Our only plan is to be here when people need to buy something. Sometimes we sit on small stools out front when the shop is quiet and just watch the people go by. We have seen many students graduate and move away over the years. We do not bother with advertising because people in the city already know who we are. We just open up every morning and wait for the day to begin.
