Samarth Jaggery Plant

Our plant, Samarth Jaggery, is out in Bhende Gawn, near the village of Esodi in Dasmat, Hingoli district. We are situated very close to the Shiv Mandir, so that is how most people find their way to us. It is a rural setting, surrounded by fields. During the season, we have a lot of sugarcane coming in on carts and tractors. The plant itself is a basic structure. We have the big pans for boiling the juice and the fire pits that we have to keep going. It gets very hot and smoky inside, especially when the wind isn't blowing much. We are just local people working here. Most of us live right in the nearby villages. We don't have fancy office hours; we just work until the day's batch is finished. The sound of the Temple bells is something we hear every day. It is a quiet life in Hingoli except for when the harvest is happening. The roads around Esodi are narrow and can be a bit rough for big trucks. We spend time cleaning the equipment and prepping for the next day. It is a lot of physical labor, but it is what we know. We have been here for a while and the people in the area are our main customers. We just stay focused on the work at hand.
