M.Y.Naidu Kirana & General is located over in Malkapuram, Visakhapatnam, at D.No-60-21-35. This area has a lot of workers and people coming and going because of the nearby industries. Our shop stays busy with people picking up things on their way to a shift or heading home. We stock a lot of the basics. You can find big bags of rice, different kinds of dals, and all the usual cooking oils. We also keep stuff like batteries, pens, and basic medicines for headaches or colds. The shop is usually a bit cluttered because we get a lot of stock delivered at once and it takes time to put it all away. We don’t have fancy air conditioning, and the ceiling fan we have is pretty old and makes a lot of noise. The floor is concrete and we sweep it out every morning before we open. Sometimes the neighbors come in just to vent about the heat or the price of onions. We listen while we pack their groceries into plastic bags. It’s a routine that hasn’t changed much over the years. We aren't trying to be a big supermarket; we just want to make sure the people in Malkapuram can get their daily necessities without traveling too far. Dealing with the wholesalers and keeping the prices fair takes up most of our energy. It’s just a regular kirana shop life for us here in Vizag. We try to keep things organized but sometimes things end up in the wrong place.
