Jayakanth Traders

You can find us at 99, Main Road in Gowkanapalle. It’s a pretty easy spot to locate if you’re driving through this part of Anantapur. Jayakanth Traders is a small place, but we keep a lot of stuff packed in there. The building isn’t new, and the paint is peeling a bit in the corners, but it does what it needs to do. We usually start the day quite early before the Anantapur heat gets too bad. Most of our time is spent unloading things from trucks or rearranging the back room to make more space. We don’t have a computer for everything, so a lot of our notes are still kept in big registers. It’s just easier for us that way. People from the village often stop by just to say hello or ask about prices. We don’t have any slick sales pitches. If we have what you need, we’ll tell you, and if we don’t, we’ll tell you that too. The main road is always a bit dusty, so we are constantly cleaning the front counter. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so you’ll often see one of us eating lunch in the back or listening to the radio while we wait for the next delivery. We just keep the doors open and do our best to stay organized in our own way. It is just a regular shop where we try to be helpful.
