Chhabaldas Harish Chand Departmental Store is over in the Malkapuram area of Visakhapatnam. The address is 61-1-22 and we have been around for a long time. It is a departmental store, but it feels more like a local corner shop because of how we run it. We sell all sorts of household things like soaps, cleaning liquids, tea powder, and snacks. The Vizag weather is usually quite humid, so we try to keep the shop airy, but with all the racks it gets a bit warm in the afternoons. We see a lot of people who work nearby coming in to pick up small things on their way home. We don't really do big advertising or anything like that. People just know we are here. The shelves are mostly made of old wood and we keep the heavy items like bags of flour near the bottom. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time finding a place to park on our street, so we have to carry the crates ourselves. It is a family business, and we have lived in this part of town for generations. We don't have any fancy displays, just the products stacked up where they fit. It gets a little chaotic when five people come in at once asking for different things, but we manage to get everyone what they need eventually. We just like being part of the neighborhood and seeing the same people every day.
