Amma Panshop

Amma Panshop is a small place on the Main Road in Malkapuram, Visakhapatnam. People around here know us because we’ve been standing on this corner for a long time. It’s mostly just a tiny stall where you can get your daily pan, some cigarettes, or maybe a cold soda if it’s a hot afternoon. The traffic on the Main Road is always loud and dusty, but that’s just how Visakhapatnam is. I spend most of my day sitting here, wrapping leaves and chatting with the guys who stop by after their shifts at the nearby industries. It’s not a fancy job. My hands are usually stained with lime or betel juice by noon. We also keep some small snacks and candies for the kids who walk past after school. Sometimes it gets really busy during the breaks, and I have to work fast to keep everyone happy and not waiting too long. There isn't much room to sit inside, so most people just stand on the pavement for a bit while they talk. It’s a simple routine. I open up early and stay until late at night when the streets finally get quiet and the trucks slow down. People call me for the usual stuff they need every day. I don’t use any computers or fancy billing. I just know what things cost and I remember my regulars by their faces. It’s just a basic panshop helping people get through their day with a little something extra.
