Our business, Dev-Jewer Private Limited, is located in Ghanahatti. We’re over at Manak Niwas, which is on Khasra No 1237. It’s very easy to find because it’s right near the bus stand. Being close to the bus stand means there are always people moving about and plenty of noise, but it makes the location convenient. We share the space C/O Bhagat Ram Manak. It’s a traditional kind of setup. We mostly deal with local jewelry needs. The building has a lot of character and has been around for a long time. Every morning we open up and wait for the first bus to roll in. We spend our time cleaning the glass cases and checking our items. It’s a small operation. We don’t have fancy air conditioning or anything, just a few fans that hum all day. People from the nearby villages often stop in while they’re waiting for their transport. We know a lot of the regulars by name. It’s a bit dusty because of the road, but that’s just life in Ghanahatti. We don’t do any big advertising; word of mouth is usually how people hear about us. We just keep our stock ready and try to be helpful to whoever walks through the door. It’s a quiet life for the most part, focusing on the jewelry and the people in our community. We have been here for years and hope to stay.
