We are way up in the hills at the Rampur Hydro Electric Project. Our site is in the village of Averi, near P.O. Nogli in the Kullu district. It’s a beautiful place, but the work is tough. Being out here in Himachal Pradesh means we deal with the elements every day. The office is basically a site office, so don't expect anything fancy. It’s functional and built to withstand the mountain weather. Most of the time, we’re out on the project site, but this is where we keep the records and where the managers stay. It’s a long way from the big cities, and life is different here. Everything takes a bit longer because of the terrain. We drink a lot of tea to stay warm when it’s cold out. The local people in Averi are nice, and we’ve become part of the scenery. It’s a busy site with a lot going on. There’s dust and noise from the machinery, but that’s just how it is with a hydro project. We are just a group of workers and engineers living and working in the mountains, trying to get this job done right. It’s not an easy life, but it’s interesting work and the mountain views are really hard to beat.
