Suryakund Welfare Foundation

We are out in the village of Salaiya, which is in the Barwan area of Barkatha. Our office is at Chhoti Lal Mahto’s place. It is a rural part of Hazaribagh, so things move a bit slower here than they do in the city. The Suryakund Welfare Foundation is just a group of us from the village. We don't have a fancy building or shiny office equipment. We mostly meet in the house or sometimes even outside under a tree if the weather is good. We focus on what the people in Salaiya and the nearby villages need. It is practical work, like helping with local issues or looking after the community. We don't have a big mission statement written on the wall. We just know what needs to be done because we live here. Chhoti Lal Mahto has been kind enough to let us use his space for our meetings. People from all over Barkatha come by when they hear we are helping out. We are just regular folks who grew up here. We don't use corporate talk because it doesn't make sense in a village. We just speak plainly and try to be useful. Life in Hazaribagh can be tough, but we do our part to make it a bit easier. It is honest, quiet work and we are proud to be doing it right here in our own village. We have been here for years.
