Shankar Laghu Udyog Foundation

Shankar Laghu Udyog Foundation is out in the village of Deokuli. We are located at Basant Ram’s place, which serves as our main base for everything we do. Being in the Ichak police station area of Hazaribag means we are quite deep in the rural part of the district. It’s a very different pace of life out here in Deokuli compared to the big cities. We don’t have any fancy signage or a corporate lobby. It’s just a simple room in a village house where we keep our records and plan our work. Most of the people around here know Basant Ram, so they know where to find us if they need to. We spend a lot of time talking to the locals and managing the small-scale industry matters that we focus on. Hazaribag is a beautiful district, and being in a village like this keeps us connected to the ground. We have our daily routines, like starting early before it gets too hot and finishing up as the sun starts to go down. There’s a lot of practical work involved in running the foundation from a village post office location. We don’t try to sound like a big company because we aren't one. We are just local people working in Ichak, trying to stay organized and helpful. It’s a modest way of doing things, but it works for what we need to accomplish every day. We just stay focused on our tasks and the life in the village.
