Sri Venkatesh Spices

Our place is right in the middle of the APMC Yard here in Haveri district. If you have ever been down this way, you know it is a busy spot with trucks coming and going at all hours of the day. We deal with spices, mostly because that is what this whole area is known for. It gets pretty dusty and loud during the peak season, but that is just part of being in the market. We do not have a flashy office or any of that stuff. It is mostly bags of goods, scales, and the smell of whatever is being loaded that day. Sometimes it is chillies, sometimes it is other stuff. We spend a lot of time talking to farmers and the guys driving the loads in from the fields. It is hard work and the sun gets really hot over the yard, but we have been doing this for a long time now. We know the rhythm of the market. Some days are slow and we just sit around the shop front chatting, and other days we barely have time to grab a bite to eat. It is a simple business. We get the spices, we move them along, and we try to keep things honest. There is no big secret to it. The walls are a bit worn down and the floor is concrete, but it is home for us. We have seen the seasons change many times from this same spot.
