About Someshwara Rice And Flour Mill – Food & Beverages in Haveri
Our mill is out in Baichavalli, in the Hangal area of the Haveri district. It’s a rural spot, and we like it that way. We do both rice and flour here, so there’s always a different smell in the air depending on what we’re grinding that day. The building is an old one, made of stone and brick, and it stays relatively cool inside even when the summer sun is beating down on the fields outside. We don’t have an office with air conditioning or fancy chairs. Most of the time we are on our feet, checking the hoppers or bagging the fresh flour. It’s a dusty job, and our clothes definitely show it by the end of every shift. We know most of the families in Baichavalli because they’ve been coming to us for a long time. We don’t do any advertising at all; people just know where we are and what we do. Sometimes the power supply is a bit shaky, and we have to stop everything and just wait. We use that time to sit and talk about the news or the weather. It’s a slow-paced life compared to the big city, but we are always busy with something. We don’t have a big corporate structure or many rules. It’s just us and a few helpers from the village. We take pride in just getting the work done every day.
