Siva Brick

We are located at 46-9-87 on Karamattahalli Road, right here in Vidyanagar. It’s not the easiest place to find if you aren't looking for it, tucked away a bit. We’ve got a fairly large area for the kilns and the raw clay. The smell of burning wood and earth is something you get used to pretty fast. My father started this, and now I’m the one looking after things. We have a few rows of bricks laid out to dry in the open air. You have to watch the weather constantly. If a sudden rain comes, we have to scramble to cover everything with plastic sheets. It can be a real mess if we’re too slow. The guys working the kilns have a tough job with the heat. We try to keep plenty of water around. It’s a simple life. We don’t do much advertising. People in Vidyanagar just know we are here. Most of our business is just neighbors and local contractors who need a few thousand bricks for a project. We load the trucks by hand, which takes time but ensures we don't break too many. Sometimes the tally gets a bit confusing when we're busy, but we figure it out eventually. It's just a regular local brickyard. We don't try to be anything else. We just want to get through the orders and go home to our families.
