We are based out of Kolur Camp, specifically on Gummanahalli Road. It’s a busy spot here. Haveri District Women Amrith Sheep & was started to manage the sheep work better. Most of us grew up around animals, so it made sense. We work out of Basappa Kathi’s place, which is where we handle the day-to-day things. There is a lot to do with the sheep every day. Feeding, cleaning, and keeping track of everything takes time. We decided to join up to make the work a bit easier for everyone involved. Sometimes the weather makes it hard, but that’s just how it is with farming. People around here know where we are. If you head down Gummanahalli Road, you'll find the camp easily. We don't spend much time on the computer, mostly we are out back or at the road. The sheep keep us busy from morning until it gets dark. It's practical work. We’ve been doing this for a while now. It started small and just kept going because there was a need for it. Everyone helps out where they can. It's not always easy, but it's what we know. We just focus on the animals and making sure things run okay. There is always someone coming by to check on the livestock or ask a question. We don't have a lot of formal meetings. Most decisions happen while we are working. It's just a regular group of local women keeping things going. We just take it day by day.
