About Ammar Quail Farm – Agriculture & Farming in Hatundi
Out here at Fateh Farms in Hatundi, things move at a different pace than in the city. You wake up when the birds start making noise, which is usually way before the sun is actually up. Ammar Quail Farm is basically just a few of us looking after the quails and making sure they’re fed and healthy. It’s a lot of outdoor work, so you’re always dealing with the weather. If it rains, the ground gets muddy and you spend half your time cleaning your boots. If it’s hot, you’re constantly checking the water levels. It’s not a clean job, you’ve always got a bit of hay or feathers on you. We don't have a fancy office, just a small shed where we keep the records and the feed. We spend most of the day walking between the pens and checking on things. It’s quiet out here, which I like, except for the birds. People from the village stop by sometimes to see how things are going or to buy a few eggs. We don't have a big strategy; we just try to keep the farm running smooth and the birds happy. It’s a simple way to make a living, even if it means your back hurts at the end of the day. We’ve been at Fateh Farms for a while now, and we’ve gotten used to the smells and the sounds of the Hatundi countryside.
