Taj Choori & Beads Company

Our shop is located in Mohalla-patli Gali, which is exactly like the name says—a very narrow lane. You have to walk a bit to find us in Purdil Nagar because the streets curve around quite a lot. We deal with glass chooris and all kinds of small beads here at Taj Choori & Beads Company. Most of the day is spent sitting on the floor or low stools, sorting through thousands of tiny pieces. The colors are bright, but the work is actually quite tedious on the eyes. We pack things into small boxes and bags to send out to the markets. Sometimes the beads spill, and we are still finding them under the cabinets months later. It is a family-run kind of thing, so there is always someone making tea or talking in the background while we work. The light in the alley isn't great, so we have some bright bulbs inside so we can see the holes in the beads. It is quiet for the most part, except for the clinking of the glass bangles when we move the crates. We don't have a big storefront with displays; it is mostly just stacks of inventory and people working with their hands. People in the neighborhood know where we are, but strangers usually have to ask for directions at the corner to find our door in the lane.
