About Bhagwati Handloom Industrie – Tourism in Hathras
Bhagwati Handloom Industrie is tucked away in Sharma Gali. We are right behind the Chamar Gate Police Chowki, which makes it easier for people to find us if they get lost in the lanes. It’s a tight squeeze in this part of town, especially when we have deliveries coming in. The sound of the looms is something you get used to after a while. We do handloom work here, so there is a lot of thread and yarn everywhere you look. The building isn't much to look at from the outside, but we have a lot going on inside. It’s a bit of a maze with different sections for weaving and packing. We don't have a receptionist or a waiting room. Usually, you just walk in and find one of us working near the machines. Bhagwati Handloom has been a part of this neighborhood for a long time. Most of the people working here live just a few streets away. We don't use big fancy machines for everything. A lot of it is still done by hand because that’s just how we learned to do it. The lighting isn't great in the back, but the weavers know what they are doing by touch alone. We don't spend money on fancy brochures or websites. We just make sure the handloom products are ready when they need to be. It’s a busy, noisy, and dusty life in Sharma Gali.
