Surcode Coffee

Surcode Coffee sits right near the Kempegowda Circle in Belur. It’s a busy spot because of the circle, with buses and cars circling around all day long. Our address is 3697/2698, which sounds complicated but we’re easy to find if you’re in the area. We get a mix of people coming through—locals who live just down the lane and tourists who are visiting the old temples around Belur. We don’t really change how we do things for anyone. It’s a straightforward operation. We spend a lot of time in the back working with the beans and making sure the bags are stacked properly. The air inside always smells like roasted coffee, which is probably the best part of the job. It’s a bit of an old-fashioned way of working, maybe, but it’s what we know. We aren't trying to expand into a giant company. We’re happy right here near the circle. The stone walls of the shop keep it somewhat cool even when the Karnataka sun is beating down outside. We have a few wooden benches where we sit when things slow down in the mid-afternoon. It’s just a small group of us running the place. We do the cleaning, the heavy lifting, and the paperwork ourselves. It’s not glamorous, but it’s our living and we’re proud of that. We just take each day as it comes and keep the coffee ready.
