You’ll find Shanthala Machining Technologies out in the K.I.A.D.B. Industrial Area in Machenahalli. Our place is near the Nidige Post, which is a bit of a drive for some, but it’s where all the industrial action happens. The sound of machines running is pretty much the background music to our lives here. We’ve got lathes, milling machines, and all the usual gear you’d expect in a machine shop. It’s not a quiet or particularly clean environment. There are metal shavings on the floor and the smell of cutting oil is everywhere. We work on various parts that other companies need for their equipment. Some days we are making one specific piece over and over, and other days it’s something different every hour. The heat in the shed can get intense during the middle of the day, but we just keep the fans going and stay at it. We don't have a marketing department or a sales team. Usually, the phone rings and it’s someone we’ve worked with before asking if we can handle a new job. We look at the blueprints, check if we have the right materials, and give them a timeframe. It’s a lot of measuring and double-checking because even a tiny mistake can ruin a whole piece of metal. It’s a tough trade, and you have to be okay with getting your hands dirty and standing on your feet all day long. We just focus on the machines and the metal.
