Ham-Ak Rural Development Foundation

You can find us at Inamul Hassan’s place in Hatijujubuanowgaon. It’s over in Batadroba. Ham-Ak Rural Development Foundation is a local effort we started to help out with things in the village. We don't have a dedicated office building or anything fancy like that. We just use a room in the house to keep our records and meet up. It’s a rural area, so things move a bit slower here. We spend most of our days talking to farmers and families in the surrounding fields. The road to get here can be a bit rough after the monsoon. We don't have a secretary or a phone system. Usually, someone just comes to the gate and calls out for us. It’s a very informal way of working but it works for our community. We have some old wooden desks and a few plastic chairs for when guests come by. There's usually a lot of tea being made. We aren't experts in everything, but we try to find answers for people when they ask. It’s more about neighbor helping neighbor than anything else. Being based in Nowgaon means we know the local issues firsthand. We've all lived here our whole lives. We don't need a polished image to do our work. We just do what needs doing day by day without much fuss. It's a quiet life, but the work is steady.
