About Ms Scrap Marchent – Metals & Minerals in Hassan
Being Ms Scrap Marchent means we spend most of our time out behind the M.K. Swamy Petrol Bunk on Bm Road. It is a dusty place, but that is the nature of the scrap business. We have piles of metal and old materials stacked up throughout the yard. You can hear the vehicles pulling into the petrol bunk next door all day long. The noise of Bm Road is constant, with trucks and cars rushing past the entrance. Our office is just a simple setup, mostly for keeping track of weights and payments. It is not the kind of place you come to for a comfortable sit-down. Most of our regulars know the way, navigating past the big trucks. We spend a lot of time sorting through what comes in, separating the copper from the iron and making sure everything is where it should be. The sun hits the yard pretty hard in the summer, so we usually have a tarp set up for some shade. It is a dirty job, and our hands are rarely clean by the end of the shift. We just get on with the work, dealing with whoever walks in through the gate. There is no corporate structure here, just a few of us making sure the yard runs okay. We keep the scales calibrated and try to stay on top of the piles before they get too high.
