Belur Coffee Curing & Trading Company

Out here in Keraloor Village, the air usually smells like coffee beans drying in the sun. Belur Coffee Curing & Trading Company is located near the Sanyasihalli Post in Belur Taluk, which is a bit of a drive from the main Hassan District hub. We spend our days dealing with the local growers who bring in their harvests. The curing process takes time and a lot of physical labor, so our clothes are usually dusty by the end of the shift. We’ve got the old machinery running in the shed, and while it’s noisy, it gets the job done. Trading is another part of what we do, which means we spend a lot of time on the phone checking prices and talking to buyers. It’s a seasonal life; some months are incredibly busy with trucks lined up, and others are a bit quieter when we focus on maintenance and cleaning the floors. We don’t have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s a working facility where the focus is on the beans and the farmers we’ve known for years. Living and working in the village means everybody knows everyone’s business, which is just how it is here. We take pride in the coffee that passes through our hands, even if we don't say it out loud much. It’s just what we do in this part of Belur. We are just local people working with the land.
