Out here in Yalachahally, things feel quite a bit different than they do in the middle of the crowded city. We are located near Tavarekere, under the Hoskote Post Office jurisdiction. It is a long drive out from the center of Bangalore, but once you finally get here, there is actually some breathing room and open space. Volvo India has a lot of ground out here, which is necessary because the things we work on are quite large and take up a lot of room. You see the big trucks and various parts moving around the yard all day long. It is a dusty place because of all the open ground and the trucks, and when it rains, the mud can become a bit of a mess to walk through. We have our offices and the factory areas spread out across the site. It takes a fair amount of walking if you need to go talk to someone in another building across the yard. The canteen is usually the busiest place around noon, and that is where you hear most of the daily news about what is happening on the shop floor. We do not have the glass towers or the air-conditioned malls nearby like the offices in the city do. It is mostly just open fields and other industrial sites around our fence. The air feels a bit clearer out here, though, and on a good day, you can actually see the horizon. We have been out here in Hoskote for a long time now.
