Kishan Rice Mill

Running the Kishan Rice Mill in Gokhulpur village keeps us all very busy most of the year. We are located near the Pavapuri Jain Mandir, so it is a nice area even though it gets a bit noisy around our machines. The post office is over in Satna and we are in the Nalanda taluka. Dealing with rice means there is always a lot of dust in the air and on our clothes. It is just the way it is when you are milling grain. Local farmers bring their paddy here after the harvest and we spend long hours getting it processed and bagged up. The building is just a big shed with the milling equipment and some space for storage. We don't have a fancy office or any marketing people. It’s just us doing the work. Sometimes when the monsoon is heavy, the roads around the village get a bit difficult for the trucks, so things slow down. We just take it day by day. Most of our customers are people we have known for years from around the village and the nearby areas. We don't use any high-tech systems, just old-fashioned hard work and keeping an eye on the quality of the rice. It’s a simple life but it’s honest work that helps the farmers get their crop to market. We hope to keep the machines running for many more seasons as long as there is paddy to mill.
