If you are driving down the Radhanpur Highway in Patan, you will see us near the Janta Petrol Pump. It is a good landmark because everyone knows where the pump is. We have a lot of space here because of the highway location. It makes it easier for the big trucks to pull in and out without causing a traffic jam. We have been here for a while now and the highway noise is something you just stop hearing after a while. The wind blows a lot of sand across the road, so we are always dusting off the tile displays. We keep most of the heavy stuff out back. Patan gets really dry and the sun can be quite brutal on the outdoor displays. Inside, we just have rows of tiles for people to look at. We don't have a fancy coffee machine or anything like that, just some water for whoever comes in. We mostly deal with people from the surrounding villages and some of the builders working on the new houses near the highway. It is a straightforward business. We show what we have, talk about the prices, and figure out the transport. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit outside in the shade until it comes back on. It’s a slow pace some days, and very hectic on others when several trucks arrive at once. We just handle it as it comes.
