Grasim Industries

Our site is out in Kumarapatnam, which is part of the Haveri District. It’s quite a distance from the main cities, so it’s a bit of a trek to get here. Grasim Industries has a large presence in this area. We have several buildings and a lot of land around the facility. It’s an industrial environment through and through. You can hear the hum of the plant from pretty much everywhere on the property. We have a lot of people working here, mostly from the nearby villages and towns. The daily commute involves a lot of buses and bikes coming through the gates every morning. Inside the main office, things are pretty standard. We have rows of desks and some old filing cabinets that have been here for years. The windows look out over the factory floors and the chimneys. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s steady. We have a canteen where everyone gathers for meals. The food is simple, mostly local stuff. Haveri can get very dry and dusty, especially during the harvest seasons. We spend a lot of time maintaining the equipment and making sure everything is running. It’s a big operation, but at the end of the day, it’s just a bunch of people working together in a quiet part of the state. We don't have much in the way of city luxuries, but we have what we need to keep going. The main gate has a guard who knows everyone.
