We are based at B-5 in the Industrial Estate. It’s a typical setup for this area, just a big shed with some office space carved out in the front section. We do mechanical and dynamics work, so there is usually some kind of machine being taken apart or put back together on the floor. The floors are concrete and they’ve seen better days. You’ll usually find some grease on the doorknobs and the smell of machine oil in the air. It’s a practical place. We don't spend money on fancy furniture because it would just get dirty anyway. We have a few old lathes and some testing gear that we use every day. The staff is small, just a few technicians and someone to handle the invoices. We spend a lot of time troubleshooting parts that aren't working right. Sometimes a job takes twice as long as we thought, but we don't leave until it's right. It gets cold in the winter and boiling in the summer because the insulation isn't great. We just pull the shutters up and get to work. Most of our neighbors in the estate are doing similar things, so we often borrow tools from each other when we are in a jam. It’s a simple way of working. No big corporate meetings, just fixing things and making parts that move. That’s all we’ve ever really done here. We just keep the machines running and the customers coming back.
